The Decemberists have announced an additional leg of Summer tour dates
for July and August. Launching from their home state of Oregon on July
19, the run of dates will lead them across the Midwest on their way to
their headlining performance on the opening night of the Newport Folk
Festival, and bring them back to the West coast for shows at the Greek
Theater in Los Angeles (August 12) and the Outside Lands Music &
Arts Festival in San Francisco (August 13). It also includes return
visits to both Chicago and Austin due to overwhelming demand. A limited
presale of select dates is now underway here. Tickets will go on sale to
the general public beginning April 22. See below for a full list of
tour dates or visit The Decemberists’ website.
The band
has also released the video for “This Is Why We Fight,” a cinematic
tour-de-force by acclaimed director Aaron Stewart. “This Is Why We
Fight” has garnered the band their first Top 20 single at Modern Rock
and is just impacting AAA. It is the second single from the band’s new
album The King Is Dead (Capitol Records), which debuted at #1 on the
Billboard Top 200 after its January 18 release. The album also produced
the band’s career-first #1 radio hit with the lead single “Down By The
Water,” which reached the top spot on the Mediabase AAA radio chart.
